Yogish Pai: One of the best practices for Enterprise Architecture teams to redo the enterprise road map on a periodic basis. It is typically reviewed and updated during the yearly budgeting cycle and my preference is to perform this activity every 18 months. The best practices (and the traditional approach) is to first document the as-is, next develop the target or future state (architecture) and finally develop a short term (6 months), mid term (12 months) and long term (18 months) road map. Preferable an actionable road map that ties back to the business initiatives.

The PRM is a “reference model” or standardized framework to measure the performance of major IT investments and their contribution to program performance.

The Enterprise Architecture Knowledge Digest (EAKD) is a knowledge system built by the Association of Enterprise Architects for the EA community. The mission of EAKD is to provide action-relevant knowledge to enable architects to make knowledgable decisions and implement best practices effectively and efficiently. This presentation demonstrates the EAKD system and guides the audience through scenarios of exploring and developing actionable knowledge in the EA Knowledge Digest system. The EAKD team welcomes the EA community's input on how to make the Knowledge Digest System useful and useable for enterprise architects.

This guide is intended for use by either the government or contractor communities whenever the use of the ANSI/EIA 748 standard is required. It is recommended for use in performing an initial compliance assessment and for performing implementation surveillance. The primary purpose of this document is to define in detail the management value and intent for each of the guidelines listed in Section 2 of the ANSI/EIA 748 standard. Each intent guideline is numbered for reference purposes. Accompanying the management value and intent definitions is a list of typical attributes and a list of objective evidence typical outputs that can be used to verify compliance with a given guideline.

The Federal Chief Information Officers Council published initial versions of the Federal Enterprise Architecture Security and Privacy Profile (FEA SPP) in July 2004 and July 2005. The current version of the methodology (Version 2.0) was modified based on validation exercises and an assessment of related documents. Validation testing was conducted at two Federal agencies1 to verify the methodology’s utility. Validation consisted of abbreviated applications of the FEA SPP methodology. An assessment of relatively new standards and documents such as Federal Information Processing Standards Publication (FIPS PUB) 199, Standards for Security Categorization of Federal Information and Information Systems; FIPS PUB 200, Minimum Security Requirements for Federal Information and Information Systems; and Data Reference Model (DRM) Version 2.0 have added to the utility of this document. FEA SPP Version 2.0 supersedes previous FEA SPP releases.
